Welcome
I am a sophomore majoring in journalism at Marquette University. I was born and raised in Mayagûez, Puerto Rico, the largest city on the western coast of the island and only two-and-a-half hours away from the capital city of San Juan. Almost everyone I meet asks me why I would leave paradise to go to school in what sometimes feels like a frozen tundra. I came to Marquette to break away from the comfort of my hometown to try something new in Milwaukee. I never switched schools, I never moved to a different house, and I always saw the same people; this was a perfect time for a change to what had been a 17-year routine.
At Marquette, as well as studying journalism, I write for the campus magazine, the Marquette Journal, and I am a desk receptionist at Mashuda Hall. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, films, surfing the web, going out with friends, reading magazines, and just having a great time. I still do not know what I plan on doing in the near future; sometimes I think I should just drop everything and move to Hollywood and become an actor. Still, I hope to be immersed as much as possible into the communication industry. I believe in always staying positive and never giving up. Eleanor Roosevelt once said: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." |
